Do The Work

Do The Work

Make a list of things and turn it into poetry.

Somewhere, in the midst of all the slag heaps,

there will be a line worth saving.

A phrase or word to be re-used;

or, just the punctuation.

Do the work.

Turn it into poetry anyway.

Make a list of things.

Hate it.

Cross it out.

Leave it.

Do the work.

Silence.

Stillness.

Let it steep.

Do the work.

Years may pass.

Come back to it.

Make a list of things.

Turn it into poetry.
